LYON, France (April 10, 2025) – In the third and final game of the 2025 id2 National Selection International Tour, the id2 girls team defeated FBBP’s U-16 academy team, 11-1. The delegation finished its French journey with a 2-1-0 record.
The competition was level throughout the first half, with neither team finding the back of the net early. The id2 girls controlled possession for most of the half and tallied several shots on goal but were unsuccessful in their attempts. The FBBP squad would open the scoring in the 38th minute via a through ball to beat the id2 back line. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the home team heading into halftime.
The second half would prove to be an entirely different story for the id2 girls, tallying 11 goals in the 40-minute period. Jalisse Padilla (Bay Area Surf) started the scoring for the team in the 43rd minute off a cross from Marley Skalski (Western New York Flash). Skalski added two more assists to the stat sheet in the 46th and 49th minutes finding Riley Broad (Real Futbol Academy) and Jalisse Padilla (Bay Area Surf) in the box to finish. The flurry of goals would continue in the 53rd minute with a successful penalty kick from Riley Broad (Real Futbol Academy), a solo effort from Brazil Crockett (SoCal Blues) in the 55th minute for her first goal of the tour, an intercepted pass and solo effort from Marley Skalski (Western New York Flash) in the 56th minute, and a rebounded shot to finish from Michelle Myers (Beach FC) in the 64th minute. Caroline Mortimore (MVLA SC) would add herself to the stat sheet in the 67th minute with a cross to Jalisse Padilla (Bay Area Surf) who found the back of the net on a header.
The final three goals would involve Zoe Thompson (Tudela FC). Thompson beat the keeper and scored for the first time this tour in the 73rd minute after intercepting a pass in the midfield. She then followed with assists to Aubrey Taylor (San Diego Surf) and Whitley Waki (Hawaii Rush) in the 76th and 78th minute, respectively. This was also Waki’s first goal of the tour. The id2 team tallied 24 shots on goal and allowed FBBP only one shot on goal which would be their lone goal of the match.
The 2025 id2 National Selection girls team faced three worthy challengers in France, splitting its time between Paris and Lyon:
- April 7 vs. Paris FC
- April 9 vs. Olympique Lyonnais
- April 10 vs. FBBP
The matches took the teams to several sites in France, which speaks to the value of cultural immersion on this trip. These clubs offered unique training styles and developmental experiences that the id2 National Selection team saw first-hand. Cultural immersion isn’t limited to matches and training sessions, though; the American delegation also attended professional men’s and women’s games and toured professional training grounds and museums in Paris and Lyon.
The 2025 id2 National Selection International Tour (girls) officially began April 2 with a two-day domestic camp in Chicago before traveling to Paris for the first half of the France stay and then Lyon for the remainder. The tour, which concludes April 12, represents the final progression of the current id2 age group cycle targeting players born in 2011.
Next week, the id2 National Selection boys squad will head to Scotland to face a quartet of opponents in Glasgow and Edinburgh. For updates on the boys trip, please visit the 2025 Boys id2 International Tour web page and browse Instagram for video and photo content.
