id2 National Selection boys team bests Dundee United FC in opening game of 2025 id2 International Tour

GLASGOW, Scotland (April 23, 2025) – In its first match of the 2025 id2 National Selection International Tour, the id2 boys team defeated Dundee United FC’s U-14 academy team, 5-2, Wednesday night at Tannadice Park in Dundee. It was the first of four opponents the ’11 squad will face in Scotland.

The American delegation wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Charlie Guevara Fernandez (Rockford Raptors FC) scored off a set piece in the 9th minute, followed two minutes later with a goal from Kevin Curiel Huerta (Bay Area Surf), who was assisted by Francisco Diaz (Bloomingdale Lightning). Curiel Huerta, who was named “Man of the Match” by the coaching staff, scored again in the 20th minute. The lead grew to 4-0 five minutes later when Brock Bennett (South Valley Surf) served up a corner kick to fellow West Coaster Alexander Rice (Washington Premier), who finished the opportunity, to give the id2 National Selection team additional insurance before halftime.

In the second half, Dundee United FC didn’t go away quietly, scoring two goals in the first 11 minutes to narrow the deficit to 4-2. But, Luke Dozier (Culver City FC) answered with the id2 team’s fifth and final score in the 69th minute off an impressive lead-up by Bennett and Justice Chung (Hawaii Rush). Goalkeepers Maximilian Rodriguez (Highland FC) and Santiago Gonzalez (Indiana Elite FC) split time in net. View the full roster here.
