Recommend a Player

PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS

Directors of Coaching can submit recommendations of top boys and girls players with national team potential for consideration to the current id2 cycle.

PROCESS

Recommendations from coaches throughout the country are a key component of the id2 Program and supplement US Club Soccer’s scouting process that utilizes a network of scouts at games, tournaments and other high-level events across the country.

This comprehensive national scouting and recommendation program is used to form a pool from which top players are invited to attend the id2 National Training Camp. At this camp, players work with some of the nation’s best coaches and play with and against some of the nation’s best players in their age group.

Players develop at different rates, and their performance trajectory is non-linear. Every player is unique; no player is equal.

CORE BELIEFS

  • Talent is developed in the “right” environment.
  • Talent identification starts with the clubs and directors who work with the players on a regular basis.
  • Identification and examination must happen in the context of the game, taking into consideration the conditions, level and demands.
  • Player develop at different rates, and their performance trajectory is non-linear. Every player is unique; no player is equal.
  • Talent ID is a long-term examination and monitoring process, where current performance and future potential are influenced by environment, age and maturation.
  • Scouts need to use a common structure for examining players and speak the same language.
  • Scouts must gather information that is objective vs. subjective and apply a quantitative analysis throughout the examination, reporting and decision-making process.
  • Collaboration is our force multiplier.
